Elissa Nesheim is a watercolor and collage artist working from her home studio in Minneapolis, MN. While growing up in western South Dakota, the Black Hills National Forest was foundational in her connection to the vast surrounding environments, instilling deep reverence, and a call to share that connection with others.
Shortly after graduating with her BA in Art from Black Hills State University (Spearfish, SD), she began creating watercolor landscapes on large canvases and participated in local exhibits and was accepted into The Prairie Edge Fine Art Gallery in Rapid City, SD. She continues to show her work with Prairie Edge as well as online and in local Art Fairs.

Artist Statement:
My watercolor paintings are the physical manifestation of my deep connection to the natural world. Growing up, taking road trips, visiting folks, we immersed ourselves in the vast visual landscapes of South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and Minnesota, feeding my wonder at each peaceful horizon. I am comforted by nature's repeating advice to look closer, slow down, and connect to the present. In the human world of work and busy-ness, we often forgo really inhabiting the magic of environments that surround us.
